what you described sounds like fuel starvation to me. Look for red connector beside white connector - those are for the Sparkboxes. The PCB is inside the Sparkbox (of which there are 2) located on top of the fender under the seat. Any other suggestions for easy fixes or places to look before diving in? I'm thinking the next logical step is to pop out the carbs and send them off to for a true, proper deep clean. On the ride home, the bike seemed to alternate between running perfectly, and displaying signs of lean condition (loss of power, some popping from the exhaust). The behavior went away after pulling off the freeway, and I was able to get the bike home. Also heard some popping in the exhaust when I'd let off the throttle completely. More worrisome, on a long ride today I experienced an almost total loss of power, where I couldn't accelerate beyond 60mph ascending a long hill, regardless of throttle position.
SPARKBOX PCB CRACK
A quick crack of throttle almost instantly blasts through that flat spot, which I assume is due to the transition to fuel coming through the main jets. In the short time I've been riding it, I've had a fairly consistent lean condition around 4500-5500 RPM at partial throttle, which I assume is a partially clogged pilot circuit. But he also ran E10 gas and let the bike sit for months at a time, so I'm almost certain the carbs will need to come out again at some point. He also had the fuel drained and a new fuel filter installed at the same time. Been running nearly perfectly since then, but recently started experiencing some power loss issues.įor background, the previous owner had had the carbs removed/cleaned/synched at a shop within the last year. Had some issues with the charging system, but a new stator and re-soldered stator wires sorted it out.

Recent V65 buyer, picked the bike up just a few weeks back in fantastic shape.
